Wust village church
From the 12th century, the village of Wust was in the sphere of influence of the Premonstratensian monastery at Jerichow, which also had rights of patronage over the church.
The church was redesigned in 1665; a coffered ceiling, Flemish oil paintings on wood, and a baroque altar were added. The high, square, half-timbered tower dates from 1727. After 1945, the church was seriously neglected, but it was extensively renovated between 1978 and 1981 on the initiative of the congregation and the local community. The burial vault annex contains the tomb of the executed friend of crown prince Frederick (Frederick the Great), Hans Hermann von Katte. Theodore Fontane visited the church and burial vault in 1867, a visit which influenced several chapters of his Wanderings through the Brandenburg marches.
